Running Sherpa

Very Important Note for iPod Users

Before connecting your iPod to the PC, it is important to check that iTunes is not running. If you don't, iTunes will try to control your iPod instead of Sherpa.

We provide a small (and optional) program called "Scout" to do this check for you.

Running Sherpa Automatically

  1. Connect your MP3 player to a USB port of the PC.
  2. A window should popup automatically, offering the option of "Run Sherpa (Playtripper)". Select this option and click "OK".
  3. Login using the same username and password that you use here on the website.

Running Sherpa Manually

On some PCs, the "Run Sherpa" window does not popup automatically. If that happens, you can run Sherpa manually:

  1. Open "My Computer" from the Windows "Start" menu.
  2. Find your MP3 player in the list of drives that you see (e.g. "My iPod (E:)"). Double-click that drive to open it.
  3. You should see a file called "sherpa.exe", in the root (top-level) directory.
  4. Double-click "sherpa.exe" and the program will run.

Troubleshooting

On some PCs you might not be able to run Sherpa directly from the iPod, because some internet cafes lock-down their PC.s If that happens, simply run it from the Windows Desktop instead:

  1. Copy the Sherpa program from the iPod to the Windows desktop
  2. Keep your iPod connected
  3. Double-click "sherpa.exe" on the Desktop and the program will run from there
