What is Scout?

Scout is a very small program that iPod users can (optionally) run before running Sherpa.

It scans the PC you are using, to check if iTunes is installed. If it finds it, Scout shuts down iTunes (temporarily) so that Sherpa can control your iPod instead of iTunes.(Read more...)

Running Scout

  1. Click here to download and run Scout.
  2. Because Scout is an executable program, when you click on it, your browser will warn you that you are about to download a program "which could be dangerous". It pops up a message like this:

    On Firefox

  4. Scout isn't a virus, and it isn't "malicious". So just click "Run" (IE); or "Save File" then "Open" (Firefox). The browser will download the program and it will run like this:
  5. Press the "Enter" key to finish
Now that you have run Scout, you can safely connect your iPod and run Sherpa.
